Maple Bacon Martini

Ingredients:
1 oz pure maple syrup (same Michigan syrup)
3 drops of hickory Liquid Smoke

Directions:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.  Add the vodka, maple syrup and 3 drops of Liquid Smoke.  Shake well, strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a slice of maple cured bacon.

Created By:

Erin Przeniczny, who lives in Farmington Hills with her fiance, Chris, and their dog, Riley.  She moved to Michigan about two years ago after meeting Chris in her former home of Arizona (he is from Westland, MI).

The Story:

Erin came up with the Maple Bacon Martini because pretty much all meat-eaters love bacon, and she wanted to try to figure out a way to infuse the vodka with the bacon flavor.

    mmm… bacon

I love Bacon and I love this drink.  Martinis are often stiff drinks and at 75% vodka, this is no slouch.  The syrup and the liquid smoke (easily available at your local grocery store) take the smooth Valentine vodka and give it a delicious bacon taste that makes the bacon garnish feel right at home.  Great at brunch time and great at any time!

Interesting combination of ingredients!  I actually plan to serve these at our next family brunch!  The maple syrup and bacon will work well with the breakfast food!

  • PJ

    Bacon makes everything better.

  • Bryan

Great mix.  Also good with the same ingredients and tomato juice as a new twist on a bloody mary.  I’ll be having this with my scrabbled eggs and hashbrowns next Sunday brunch.

Kicked off the weekend right, happy-hour style. Had one of these, the next thing I know… I’m waking up 2 days later with my mouth tasting like pancakes, a pocket full of orange tic-taks and my nipples feeling like I was the victim of several wicked purple-nurples. I owe this epic adventure to Erin and her Bacon.

Came home after a long day of work and made myself a Maple Bacon Martini to relax and unwind. Started watching some Star Trek TNG and feelin’ good so I had a few more. Next thing I know I wake up in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness in the snow outside of a very large concrete building. I have a large scar on the back of my head and a barcode on my wrist, but I can’t remember if they are new or if I’ve always had them and never noticed, kind of like when you find a mole on your arm and are all like “did I always have that mole?”

Anyway I see a spotlight searching the ground near me and hear the bark of dogs in the distance so I start running. I manage to evade my pursuers and make it to a small town where an ice road trucker (like on that History Channel show) agrees to give me a ride back to Arizona.

I’m back to a pretty normal life now but when I close my eyes all I see is prime numbers. Also, I’m really good at math now and when I concentrate on something I can make it catch on fire. Pretty crazy stuff!
