MILFORD, Mich. (June 17, 2014) – Craft beer enthusiasts get ready to wet your whistle at downtown Milford’s first craft brewery! Located at 125 S. Main Street, adjacent to Milford’s Central Park, River’s Edge Brewing Company is pouring into town with craft beer and rustic, industrial charm.

Longtime craft beer fans, neighbors and business partners Mike Last, Tom Ouvry and Ryan Wiltse were enjoying an evening outside when the idea of starting a local brewery came up in conversation. “We were sitting on my patio enjoying a cold beer and decided it was time for Milford to have a brewery,” Wiltse said. “My wife and I lived in Colorado for a couple years and while we were there, I started homebrewing – so we thought, ‘let’s do it.’”

With high ceilings and metal beams complimented by a finished cracked floor and warm reclaimed wood accents, the re-designed space can be described as rustic, industrial. Long, narrow tables etched with images of the Huron River extend through the tasting room, encouraging close conversation.

“We named the brewery River’s Edge Brewing Company not only because of our location on the Huron River, but also because it’s evocative of the environment we wanted to create,” said Ouvry. “Casual, yet refined, it’s the kind of place you can enjoy a quality brew and quality company.”

Seasoned head brewmaster Kim Schneider, formerly of North Peak, Dragonmead and Bastone breweries, has a lot on tap for patrons to try. From the IPA and SphWalserWeisse Hefeweizen to Leonard Slye Pale Ale and Dirty Frank Stout, there are a variety of options to meet the taste buds of even the most discerning craft beer drinkers.

In addition to what is offered on tap, River’s Edge will also offer a cask ale via a traditional English beer engine. An easy drinking beer, this Milford Pub Ale offers guests a full-flavored experience that quenches your thirst at a lower alcohol by volume. . A selection of hard ciders and wines will also be available.

While beers are the focus at River’s Edge, guests looking to fill up on snacks and sandwiches will have delicious selection to choose from. The menu will include only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients from vendors like the Milford Famers’ Market, McClures Pickles and Crust Baking Company.

“River’s Edge Brewing Company has put Milford on the map for craft beer enthusiasts across the metro area,” said Ann Barnette, executive director of Milford’s Downtown Development Authority. “We are confident it will be a local favorite.”

The microbrewery covers over 3,600 square feet of Milford real estate and includes interior seating for 60 and seasonal outdoor seating for 25. River’s Edge will be open with normal business hours 3-10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 3-11 p.m. Friday; 12-11 p.m. Saturday; and 12-9 p.m. Sunday.
